Washington state holds an urban legend called Mel's Hole. In Feb 1997 a man (Mel Waters) called a radio station claiming he found a bottomless pit that also holds paranormal tendancies. Mel claimed to have dropped 80,000 feet of fishing line down the hole and never hit the bottom. He also claimed his pets were terrified to go near the hole and a neighbor threw his deceased dog down the hole and the next day the same dog was seen walking around. The hole is supposedly located around Manatash Ridge, 9 miles from Ellensburg. Many expeditions have tried to locate the hole but have been unsuccesful. Another twist to the story is there was no record of a Mel Waters who lived in the area.
Sasquatch or the more well-known phrase Bigfoot is a mythical creature said to roam the forests of North America. Sightings claim the creature is 7 to 8 feet tall, covered with hair, and walks upright. More than 3,000 recorded sightings or footprints have been made over the last 100 years. The most famous to date is the recorded video of Bigfoot walking. It was recorded on 10/20/1967. Of the thousands of claimed sightings, there is most likely some truth behind them. Is there an unknown species roaming the forests of North America, or is it just a myth? You decide.
